Green Day - Insomniac - LP (25th Anniversary Edition)
Release Date: October 10, 1995
Label: Reprise Records
Insomniac, the fourth studio album by Green Day, is a darker, heavier follow-up to their multi-platinum breakthrough Dookie. Released in 1995, the album features a hardcore punk sound and explores themes of alienation, anxiety, and anger. While it didn’t achieve the commercial success of Dookie, Insomniac peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and was certified 2× Platinum. Tracks like "Geek Stink Breath", "Stuck with Me", and "Brain Stew / Jaded" became fan favorites, with "Brain Stew" becoming one of the band’s most recognizable songs. Critically, the album was praised for its energy and sharp songwriting, with its darker tone resonating with many listeners. Despite its success, the band faced personal struggles and homesickness during their extensive tour, eventually taking a break to recharge. In 2021, Insomniac was reissued for its 25th anniversary, featuring live tracks and celebrating its lasting impact in Green Day’s career.
