Jawbreaker - Unfun - LP
Unfun is Jawbreaker's debut album, released in May 1990 through Shredder Records. The band formed while its members were attending college, and after experimenting with different lineups and names, they landed on their final roster with Blake Schwarzenbach as the frontman. The album, blending punk rock, pop-punk, and hardcore punk influences, was recorded with producer Richard Andrews and features raw, introspective lyrics inspired by Schwarzenbach’s experiences. Songs like "Want" and "Busy" became standouts, and despite the band's breakup following a strenuous U.S. tour, Unfun helped establish Jawbreaker in the national punk circuit. The album received positive reviews, praising its emotional intensity and songwriting. It was reissued several times, including a remastered edition in 2010. Though Schwarzenbach later dismissed it as lacking cohesion, the album remains influential in both the punk-pop and emo genres.
