Screeching Weasel "Teen Punks in Heat" LP
Originally released in September 2000 through Panic Button/Lookout! Records, Teen Punks in Heat is the eleventh studio album from Chicago punk legends Screeching Weasel. Produced by Mass Giorgini and Ben Weasel, the album captures the band’s signature mix of melody, sarcasm, and suburban frustration at its peak.
Now reissued in 2025 by Striped Records, this definitive edition has been remastered by Justin Perkins at Mystery Room Mastering and features revamped artwork by the original artist, Les Toil. The result is the clearest, loudest, and most dynamic version of Teen Punks in Heat ever released—true to the spirit of the original but with renewed sonic punch and visual flair.
Packed with twenty tracks of breakneck, hook-filled pop punk, the album showcases Screeching Weasel’s wit and heart, from the frantic “Bottom of the 9th” and the bittersweet “I’ll Stop the Rain” to the band’s cover of Italian pop-punk heroes The Manges on “I Will Always Do.”
Upon its initial release, Teen Punks in Heat drew enthusiastic praise in the band’s Chicago hometown and led to two sold-out shows at the House of Blues—their first live performances in seven years. The album remains a fan favorite, standing as a snapshot of early-2000s punk energy and Weasel’s enduring knack for melodic rebellion.
