Sweet Baby – It’s a Girl CD
2026 Reissue • Sounds Rad • Originally released 1989 on Slash/Ruby
Note: This is a Pre-order that ships Sept 2026
Nearly four decades after its original release, Sweet Baby’s beloved debut It’s a Girl returns in 2026 in a newly remastered CD edition that finally gives this East Bay pop-punk classic the spotlight it deserves.
Originally released in 1989 on Slash/Ruby Records, It’s a Girl captured the melodic heart, humor, and emotional sincerity that would help shape the sound of countless pop-punk bands to come. From the instantly memorable hooks of “She’s from Salinas” and “Pathetic” to the album’s raw charm and infectious energy, Sweet Baby created something timeless: punk rock that was fast, heartfelt, funny, and deeply human.
Long treasured by collectors and Gilman Street devotees, the album has only grown in stature over the years.
Formed in Berkeley, California in 1986, Sweet Baby emerged from the legendary 924 Gilman Street scene and featured Dallas Denery, Matt Buenrostro, Sergie Loobkoff (Samiam, Knapsack), and Richie Bucher (Jüke, Wynona Riders). Their music appeared on defining punk compilations including Maximum Rocknroll’s Turn It Around and The Thing That Ate Floyd, cementing the band as one of the foundational groups of the East Bay punk movement.
This 2026 edition presents the original It’s a Girl album exactly as originally released, newly remastered by Justin Perkins at Mystery Room Mastering for the best-sounding version of the record to date. No bonus tracks. No revisions. Just the original album restored with clarity, warmth, and punch for longtime fans and new listeners alike.
