Green Day - Warning - LP
"Warning," Green Day's sixth studio album, was released on October 3, 2000, by Reprise Records, marking a notable shift from the band's punk rock roots towards a blend of acoustic, pop, and folk influences. The album, which builds on the experimentation seen in 1997's "Nimrod," features more optimistic and inspirational lyrics compared to the band's earlier work. For the first time since their 1991 album "Kerplunk," "Warning" was not produced by Rob Cavallo, though he contributed as an executive producer. Despite the departure from their signature sound garnering mixed reactions, critics largely praised Billie Joe Armstrong's songwriting prowess. While "Warning" achieved a peak position of number four on the US Billboard 200, it experienced the lowest commercial success of the band's major label era, potentially impacted by a pre-release leak on Napster. Nonetheless, the album was certified gold by the RIAA and has sold over 1.2 million copies in the U.S. and 3.5 million copies globally as of 2012.
