Jawbreaker - Dear You - LP
"Dear You," the fourth studio album by American punk rock band Jawbreaker, was released on September 12, 1995, under DGC Records. Following the success of their third album, "24 Hour Revenge Therapy," Jawbreaker signed with Geffen Records and began recording their major label debut at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, California, with producer Rob Cavallo. The album, often categorized as emo, pop-punk, and punk rock, delves into darker themes reminiscent of their earlier work, particularly their second album, "Bivouac." Lyrically, "Dear You" explores the aftermath of past relationships and touches on themes of slacker culture and school life. Marked by frontman Blake Schwarzenbach's transition to singing over screaming, the album received generally favorable reviews from critics and peaked at number 22 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart in the United States. Despite initial fan backlash due to its production and the band's move to a major label, "Dear You" gained recognition as an influential album within the emo and pop-punk genres in the years following its release. Jawbreaker later reunited for a celebratory tour of the album in 2022, cementing its enduring legacy.
